OHDSI Spain 

Background 

The OHDSI program and the OMOP Common Data Model are extending rapidly, facilitating the generation of valid Real-World Evidence, contributing to the improvement of patients’ care and enabling medical outcomes-based research at an unprecedented scale. The need to promote and generate high-quality evidence to support medical decision making, has reinforced the important role of the OHDSI international and collaborative community.

The OHDSI Spanish Node, one of the largest in Europe, has been established with the purpose of becoming a meeting place for all the Spanish data partners and SMEs in order to address national issues, as well as to share experiences with the international community. This node constitutes an extraordinary opportunity to promote interdisciplinary collaboration among institutions and organizations around Spain.

Objectives 

The main objectives of OHDSI Spain are:  

• To adopt OHDSI’s mission, vision and values. 
• To facilitate the coordination among members of the Spanish network and with other European and international OHDSI nodes. 
• To promote the OHDSI program in Spain by: 
  • Expanding the network of partners. 
  • Providing members the support for the participation in the node. 
  • Performing dissemination events and activities for different audiences such as academia and research groups, healthcare organizations and professionals, patient organizations, policy makers, regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. 
  • Encouraging national research initiatives and observational studies.  
  • Training programs and workshops   
• To contribute to the coordination and communication with national policy institutions such as: 
  • Ministry of Health and Ministry of Science and Innovation. 
  • Autonomous Communities and local regions. 
  • Scientific and professional organizations. 
• To contribute to the OHDSI community by: 
  • The regular engagement and contributions in OHDSI  activities, tools and studies at the international and European levels. 
  • The dissemination of the OHDSI activities.
